And actually, some experts say that more than half of the people in the U.S. are exposed to some kind of trauma throughout the course of their lives that is strong enough to potentially cause PTSD. A full quarter experiences this trauma more than once. In actuality, PTSD is one of the most common mental health conditions in the United States.
Causes and Symptoms
